Hi: My name is Amyli McDaniel and I am a business attorney and an online entrepreneur. While I have been advising business owners about business, contract and intellectual property legal matters for 15 years, I was actually an entrepreneur before a lawyer.

My First Experience with Legal Liability Getting in the Way of Entrepreneurship

At 6 years old, I started off as a typical child entrepreneur by selling lemonade but I quickly moved on to using my family’s rowboat to sell boat rides in the little lake in my backyard.  I made 50 cents a ride until my dad found out and stopped me. All I remember was him talking about the “liability” risk involved if a child fell into the water.

So, I moved on to buying full sized cakes at Safeway on Sunday afternoons.  I would buy a cake for $3.00, cut it into 8 pieces and sell them each for a $1.00.  Making money was fun.  But, then my dad again found out and was worried that I could get into trouble if the cake caused food poisoning or someone to get sick.  There was this ”liability” concern again getting in the way of me making it as a successful entrepreneur.

As at a very early age, I decided to go to law school so I could learn about this liability problem and figure out how to deal with it in business ventures.  Since then I have always been involved in working on starting and growing businesses but I am always focused on proper business planning to set up businesses for success and to avoid problems and failure.

My Current Split Personality- Half Business Lawyer, Half Online Entrepreneur

I spend half my time running a boutique business law and business development practice where I help and sometimes partner with serial entrepreneurs to start and build fast growing momentum software, technology, and Internet related businesses.   With the other half of my time, I am an online marketer and entrepreneur obsessed with mastering areas such as search engine optimization, social media and pay per click strategies. I own and am involved with multiple online business ventures

This combination of entrepreneurial, business planning, business development, legal and internet marketing skills has proven to help build enormous value for both myself and other business owners.
